General Body Meeting - 2.10.2019

At the outset General Secretary welcomed the participants and mentioned about the topics for consideration in the meeting especially the celebration of Elders’ Day.  In his address the General Secretary gave a brief account about the importance of Elders Day and gave a brief scenario and the concern the United Nation as well as the Government of India has shown towards senior citizens above 60 years of age. The UN have decided to name the theme of 2019 Elders Day as “The Journey to Age of Equality.  It was also mentioned that Govt. of India has decided to create Elderly Care Infrastructure and Support System during 2019. 
The General Secretary also welcomed the Chief Guest Baba Anand Bhikshu and Santosh Mata ji from Old Age Home, Bhagola who were especially invited to address the members of VNSM on the occasion of Elders’ Day.  It was also mentioned that likewise previous years this year also on the occasion of Elders’ Day, VNSM will be honouring four of its members namely,  Col.(Retd.) Gurdyal Bajaj, Shri G.S.Dhiman, Shri K.G.Chhiber and Shir Jagdish Singh Verma who have attainedd 80 years of age as on 30.9.2019 with shawl, Samman Patra etc.
Shri J.M.Sharma, President in his address also gave a brief on the importance of Elders’ Day.  He while welcoming the Chief Guests also thanked the members of VNSM to be present on this occasion and witness the felicitations to be given to four Super Senior Citizens, namely, Col.(Retd.) Gurdyal Bajaj, Shri G.S.Dhiman, Shri K.G.Chhiber and Shir Jagdish Singh Verma who have completed 80 years of age.  The President also gave a brief account of the decisions taken in the Apex Committee meeting constituted by the Govt. of Haryana for Senior Citizens of Faridabad District.
Shri S.K.Thakkar, Vice President gave a brief intro in respect of the Chief Guest Baba Anand Bhikshu  and Santosh Mata, the work being done by them in the service of orphans and old age persons.  The Chief Guest Baba Anand Bhikshu and Santosh Mata were honoured with Shawl by Shri J.M.Sharma, President and Ms. Bimla Grover, Executive Member of VNSM respectively.  
 Later Baba Anand Bhikshu addressed the audience and gave a detailed purpose about the nature of service being given to citizens of our country in their Orphanage and Old Age Home.  His preaching were very useful for the members of VNSM.
While discussing the formal agenda, General Secretary gave a brief on the decisions of last meeting in confirming the minutes of the last meeting, brief on forthcoming tour to Amritsar.  The accounts of income and expenditure during the period from last meeting to the present day were displayed on the Board and Finance Secretary Shri R.K.Miglani requested members to seek any clarification.  Since there were no comments the accounts were taken as read. 
All the four members namely Col.(Retd.) Gurdyal Bajaj, Shri G.S.Dhiman, Shri K.G.Chhiber and Shri Jagdish Singh Verma who have completed 80 years of age as on 30.9.2019 were honoured with Garlands, Shawls and Samman Patras by identified delegates.  Col Gurdyal also addressed the members and shared his experience with the members of VNSM.  He advised his fellows members to not feel old even if they attained the age above 60 or 70 or even 80 and above, keep themselves busy with one or the other work so as to feel hail and healthy all the times. 
The other item on agenda was entertainment of the members with cultural program especially rehearsed by the members of VNSM.  Filmy songs on sound tract were sung by S/Shri Narinder Sharma, R.K.Miglani, Sahni, Marwah, Mohinder Kumar, Bhagwan Dass.  All the participants enjoyed the songs and appreciated the effort of their fellow members. 
Shri H.S.Malik in his address shared his views on various important issues like care of senior citizens by Apex Committee etc.
In the end the General Secretary thanked the effort of various members of Executive Body in making the celebration a success.  The conduct of program would have not been possible in case some financial help was not available from outside since there always remains paucity of funds with VNSM.  The VNSM extends its gratitude to the financial assistance of Rs.5100/- by Dr. R.D.Bansal and that of Rs.5000/- by Shri H.S.Malik for conducting the program of Elders’ Day celebrations.   VNSM is also thankful to Shri Mohinder Kumar who made concerted efforts in making the cultural program a reality.  The Governing Body of VNSM expresses its gratitude to Shri Sunil Kumar and Vipul Trikha in their role to shoulder the responsibilities assigned to them from time to time.
The meeting came to an end with LUNCH for all the members present.

General Body Meeting - 28.7.2019

The General Body Meeting of VNSM  was held on 28.7.2019 at 10.00 A.M. in Community Center, Sector 19, Faridabad
At the outset the members present were welcomed and it was announced that tree plantation would be done first in the plot of land adjacent to Community Center, Sector 19, Faridabad identified for allotment to the Varisht Nagrik Sewa Manch.  Prior to General Elections 2019 Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Krishan Pal Gujjar had assured in a meeting for giving this land to VNSM.  The work of boundary wall of this plot was initiated  by the Councilor of Ward No. 30 Shri Subhash Ahuja a week ago.   It was decided that tree plantation should be done in this plot.  Accordingly, all the members present were requested to participate in the plantation work.  Saplings  of big trees like neem, jamun were planted by various dignitaries including Shri Ahuja, Councilor, SHO, Faridabad, Police Post Incharge, Sector 19, Faridabad, President, VNSM etc.





A Senior Citizens Apex Committee has been constituted by the Police Commissioner under the directions of Ministry of Social Welfare and Empowerment, Govt. of Haryana nominating Shri J.M.Sharma, President, VNSM, Shri J.P. Malhotra, Chief Patron, VNSM and Shri H.S.Malik, Member, VNSM as Members on this Committee.  Since all the three members belonged to VNSM, The Commissioner Office sent its officers including SHO, Faridabad Old, Police Chowki Incharge, Sector 19 Welfare Officer of the office of Police Commissioner, Faridabad to bring awareness about constitution of the Committee and rights of Senior Citizens in the State of Haryana.   In the first instance Shri Subhash Ahuja, Councilor, Shri Devender Kumar, SHO, Shri Surinder Singh from O/o Police Commissioner and other dignitaries accompanying them were welcomed and garlanded by various office bearers of VNSM.


Shri J.M. Sharma, President in his opening remarks welcomed the delegates and inter alia apprised the Members  about the aims and objectives of the newly constituted Apex Committee by Police Commissioner, Faridabad, such as to protect, safeguards the property, lives of senior citizens, to promptly sort their problems, to make provision for a Helpline Number Ambulance and coverage of activities by media.
SHO, Police Station, Old Faridabad, Police Chowki  Incharge, Sector 19 and other two Police Officers from O/o Police Commissioner, who attended the meeting also gave a brief lecture on the Apex Committee.  Besides, the SHO also requested the members of VNSM present to advise their wards especially the young-ones to take every care while driving on the road, wear helmet, not to use mobile while driving, keep proper papers every time on road so as to prevent avoidable accidents on road and unnecessary legalities.  This would be in everyone’s interest as also be in the interest of wards of senior citizens. 
28th July has also be earmarked as World Parents Day and on this occasion an NGO associated with the O/o Police Commissioner gave free saplings of trees for planting in the houses of Members of VNSM and take their proper care as they take care of their children and parents.
Shri Subhash Ahuja, Councilor speaking at the meeting broke the news that the authorities concerned had given a green signal to go ahead with the construction of the boundary at the plot behind Police Chowki and adjacent to Community Centre, Sector 19, earmarked for building a separate building for Varisht Nagrik Sews Manch(Regd.), Sector 19.  He further mentioned that on the morning of 28th July, 2019 he had met Hon’ble Shri Krishan Pal Gujjar, Minister of State, Govt. of India for allocation of funds for the aforesaid building in the near future. 
Before leaving, the President conveyed its gratitude to all the delegates from Police Authorities and to the Councilor.
While initiating the agenda of the meeting, the members were apprised of the decisions of last meeting and accordingly, the minutes of that meeting were confirmed by all present.  Members were informed that a tour abroad of the members of VNSM was conducted from 11.5.2019 to 26.5.2019.  In this tour 31 members including their family members visited European countries, namely, UK, France, Switzerland, Austria and Italy.  All the participants enjoyed the trip to a great extent.  There was no any untoward incident in the tour and all the members returned India safe and sound. The report of the tour alongwith photographs of members were displayed on the website of VNSM.  Proper prior intimation will be given to all the members for future programs also.  
The statement of Income and Expenditure along with balance sheet duly approved/countersigned by Chartered Accountant was read by Shri R.K.Miglani, Finance Secretary to the members for approval.   A copy of the balance sheet was also given to the members on demand.  The queries raised by some of the members were answered to the satisfaction of members and accordingly the Balance Sheet was approved.  
In the session earmarked for Members, a member Shri kathuria read a poem, while Shri S.M.Bajaj suggested that in order to take care of the members who may not be feeling well for quite some time, the Office Bearers should visit them to make them feel good. All the members were requested to remain in touch with the office bearers in such cases and every effort will be taken to visit our fellow members.  Shri CS Dalal, special invitee addressed the present and requested that due care of elderly people and trees should be taken.
One of our members, Subedar Hans RajThakur who is almost 89 years old and living far away came to attend the meeting.   For his enthusiasm at this age of time, he was garlanded by the President Shri J.M.Sharma.  His attending the meeting at this age of time gives encouragement to us for keeping ourselves fit and participate with vigor.  
Members may kindly recall that at the end of sports organized for Senior Citizens in February, 2019, the Office Bearers of District Carom Association, Faridabad had offered to provide a Carom Board compatible for playing tournaments.  Keeping their promise, the Acting President of All India Carom Association Shri S.K.Sharma and Shri C.S.Kataria came to provide the Carom Board alongwith a set of coins etc. which was thankfully accepted by the VNSM in the presence of all.  The carom board was possible only after continuous persuasion by Shri K.C.Chakravarty who is our Executive Member and also a very good player of Carom.  The members were informed that board will be available in the Community Center hall between 4.30 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. for practice and those willing to practice can come.  The inauguration of the Board was done by pushing the first strike by Sh.J.M. Sharma, President followed by other delegates.  President also thanked Shri Sharma and Shri Kataria for sparing time to participate in the meeting as also to provide the Board etc. for members of the VNSM. 
The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to CHAIR.
